Cool Browser Extensions

The browser is a mighty powerful app when you pack it with the extensions you like. I'm not gonna cover browsers themselves, they're basically just 🧀: everyone has their own taste. Click 🦿 if you're on Chrome/ium, or click 🦊 if you're on Firefox.

Before I start, we should get some essentials out of the way:

· Disable third party cookies. They exclusively exist to follow you around and provide personalized ads.

· You want to save a picture or video but nothing happens when you right click? That's JavaScript pulling your leg. Just hold Shift when you right click.

· Use a private DNS such as dns.quad9.net - ISPs these days are not only nosy but block certain sites with their DNS.

· And:

uBlock Origin 🦿 / 🦊

A content blocker. Life is too short for ads and malware. Click here to increase blocking power.

Moving on:

BlockTube 🦿 / 🦊

Extension for YouTube. Block keystrokes to avoid spoilers, block Shorts and more.

Chameleon 🦊

A browser profile spoofer that allows you to pass as Chrome user on a Firefox browser. Useful for sites that block x browser for whatever reason.

ClearURLs 🦿 / 🦊

Removes tracking elemets from the URL bar for a more private and sanitary sharing experience. Example:

Before: https://www.amazon.de/animepillow/dp/B0C544DTN7/ref=TrackerThatTellsAmazonThatISharedThisToPeopleWhereeverIPostedThis+374MoreRandomLetters

After: https://www.amazon.de/animepillow/dp/B0C544DTN7/

Dark Reader 🦿 / 🦊

You don't like white backgrounds and want something easy to your eyes? Dark Reader is your friend.

EpubPress 🦿 / 🦊

Turns websites/articles that I want to take my time to read into epubs that I can later read offline, usually on my e-reader. You can fully automate this process by using your e-readers email address. For larger content found on, let's say, fanfic.net I recommend FicHub instead.

I still don't care about cookies 🦿 / 🦊

Hides Cookies notices and popups enforced by GDPR.

JShelter 🦊

Unfortunately only available on Firefox and probably best for those who are concerned about privacy. When you enter a website for the first time, they probably know a lot about your device already. So called fingerprinting make it possible and leak the browser you are using, along with language, screen resolution, hardware, installed extensions, etc. JShelter puts an end to that by passing along fake information to the curious hosts.

Offline QR Code Generator 🦿 / 🦊

Want to share something to someone next to you but you don't have their number? A QR code is great for this situation.

Old Reddit Redirect 🦿 / 🦊

A favorite. I don't have a Reddit account, so i can't access the old reddit setting on the site. It's also extremely useful on mobile, otherwise Reddit is gonna hold the poop app under your nose.

Return YouTube Dislike 🦿 / 🦊

Extension for YouTube. Ever since they hid the Dislikes count you can't tell right away if a video is a total scam. With this you can unhide it.

Search by Image 🦿 / 🦊

You found a cool image but its too small? No problem: Right click it and let any of the providers do the sniffing for a better version of the image.

SponsorBlock 🦿 / 🦊

Extension for YouTube. Automatically skips sponsor segments.

Stylus 🦿 / 🦊

If a site looks ugly to you, more power to you! Discover styles made by the community or employ your CSS skills. Shameless plug: A Discord theme I commented most CSS lines so you could learn a thing and most of all, create your own theme! Enjoy.

WhatFont 🦿 / 🦊

You needn't look through CSS in Dev Tools to find out which font a site is using. Just enable WhatFont, hover over any text to discover new fonts like a pro.
